Campground Overview
Devils Garden Campground – Arches National Park, Utah
Devils Garden Campground is the only campground within Arches National Park, located at the end of the park road approximately 18 miles from the park entrance. Set among the sandstone fins and arches of the Devils Garden area, the campground provides an unusually scenic place to stay while exploring one of the most distinctive landscapes in southern Utah. With paved campground roads, drinking water, flush toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings, Devils Garden offers a comfortable camping experience while retaining the natural setting that makes this part of Arches so appealing.
Location & Setting
Devils Garden Campground sits deep within Arches National Park at an elevation of approximately 5,200 feet, surrounded by towering sandstone fins and other unusual rock formations. The campground is about 18 miles from the park entrance and roughly 23 miles from Moab, placing campers well beyond the developed areas near the entrance and directly in the heart of the park's scenic landscape. The campground's location also puts visitors within easy reach of the Devils Garden trail system, including Landscape Arch and several other notable formations.
Campground Overview
Devils Garden contains 53 campsites, including individual and group camping areas, with paved campground roads and parking spurs. Sites accommodate both tents and RVs, although there are no electrical, water, or sewer hookups. Individual sites vary in size, with the largest sites accommodating RVs and trailers up to approximately 40 feet. The campground is considered a limited-development campground, providing the basic facilities needed for a comfortable stay without the extensive services found at commercial RV parks.
Amenities
Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring, while the campground provides flush toilets and running water. A campground host is present seasonally, and an amphitheater provides a setting for occasional ranger programs. There are no showers, dump stations, or utility hookups for RVs. Campers needing to empty RV holding tanks or obtain additional services will need to use facilities outside the park. Firewood is not sold directly at the campground, but it can be purchased at the visitor center.
Recreation & Camping Considerations
The biggest advantage of staying at Devils Garden is the immediate access to one of the most spectacular areas of Arches National Park. The Devils Garden trail system leads to several arches and other formations, including Landscape Arch, while the surrounding area provides opportunities for hiking, photography, and stargazing. Because the campground is located at the end of the park road, campers can begin exploring the area without first driving back toward the park entrance. Devils Garden is a particularly desirable place to camp during the busy season, when staying inside the park provides a significant advantage over commuting from lodging or campgrounds in the Moab area.
Summary
Devils Garden Campground is one of the most scenic places to camp in the Moab area and the only campground inside Arches National Park. Its location among the sandstone fins, direct access to the Devils Garden trail system, and basic modern facilities make it an excellent base for exploring the park. Although the campground has no RV hookups, dump station, or showers, paved sites, flush toilets, running water, and accommodations for RVs up to approximately 40 feet provide a comfortable experience without taking away from the natural setting. For visitors who want to experience Arches National Park beyond a day trip, Devils Garden is an especially appealing place to spend the night.
