As evidenced by my yellow REI tent seen in the above snippet, I spent the night here one cool April evening of 2025. This was my second time staying in this campground, so I knew to seek out one of the few sites that have a sun shelter like you see above. You can find a list of the sites that have one of those on the official recreation.gov website. The campsites that have those are just a handful out of the over 200 sites here at this gigantic campground. Not sure why they do not invest in more, because other than that, the only shade you'll find is the sliver a random Saguaro or Organ Pipe might cast, if you are lucky enough to have one in your site. Other than that, it is sparse terrain, flat, but exposed. I'd classify the campgrounds as very cookie-cutter, resembling an RV park. If you camp in the back like me, it's generator free and meant for tent campers, and it's always been pretty quiet when I've been. The bathrooms were clean, and they do have a few showers, which is nice. Great hiking trails nearby, and you can see the Mexican border from the campsite in the distance. As for the campsite and campground, a bit cramped for my taste, but still fun to camp here.
