I camped at site 7 here at Kayenta Campground a few years back. I can see from the Campvue video that the site has not changed. I'll get the only downside out of the way, and it might be more of a critique of a tent camper. I find the campsites here a bit pricey, but to be fair, as you can tell, there are electric hookups at the sites, which usually command a higher price. So as a tent camper you will pay a premium for something you may not need, but I still feel this campground stands above many. They do have some walk in tent sites at nearby Wingate campground (right next to Kayenta). First, the tent pads are great quality and large. It's always nice to have a nice level, and contained spot to pitch your tent. And as for RV'ers, I know you'll love the spot, though I estimate site 7 is not ideal for a huge rig, but still good for many sizes. Privacy at 7 was okay. I did have courteous neighbors when I stayed, but do note 7 is sandwiched between two other sites. There is a risk for noise if you get naughty neighbors. One things that helped with privacy was the shade shelter. Not only did it provide much needed shade, the walls on the side helped to block out wind too, as well as broke up sight lines to other sites.. And, there is actually an electric light hooked up inside of it, you can just flip a switch and have light! To date, I've never seen that amenity at any other campsite. The restrooms are nearby and clean, and you have great access to hiking trails. The main overlook areas are also near by. During my last visit, the visitor center sold ice, which was huge as this area is quite a drive from any services. Recommend you bring all you need. Now, there are a couple dispersed camping options in the area outside the park, but if you want a developed experience in this area, Kayenta (and nearby Wingate) are really your only options. You are right next door to Canyonlands Island in the Sky district, but for whatever reason, they do not have a developed campground in that section of Canyonlands. So Dead Horse provides a great place to call home base for exploring this region of the Moab area. I know off roaders will love this spot as it is near some world class trails.
