Cactus Atlas
Reviewed: Oct 8, 2025
5 out of 5

This will be the third review I've written for this campground, either under this account, or our main Campvue account. I work on both Campvue and the Cactus Atlas (which is a Youtube channel). When I stayed here (same time I camped in Site 18 as Campvue, see review), I noticed this Yurt was available to book. So I did, and made a video review you can see on the Cactus Atlas Youtube channel. If you want to learn about this Yurt, I recommend seeking that out, as you can see it first hand! It was an interesting contrast to staying in my tent at other sites here. As I cautioned in other reviews, Goblin Valley, the campground being no exception, is often very windy (no trees or things to break up the wind) and the terrain is very loose dirt. So if you tent camp, I give you a very high probability that at some point, the inside of your tent will be covered in dirt, including your pillow, sleeping bag etc... It's a tradeoff we gladly accept, but if that deters you, consider the Yurts instead, and problem solved! The Yurt was extremely clean... immaculate even. Whoever cleans them does a bang up job and should be commended! Felt way more sterile an clean than an average hotel room to me. It's very comfy. There is basic furniture within, including a wooden table, some chairs, a bunk bed, and if I remember, a futon-like couch. Probably can accommodate a small family, but confirm on the booking site about capacity as I am a solo traveler. You do need to bring your own bedding or sleeping bag. The bed is nothing fancy (the mattress has a gym-mat type consistency to it, with more padding to be comfortable. I usually just throw my sleeping bag down on top of it, and use a blanket on top. Nothing fancy needed. It was comfortable for me, and I had a good night's sleep. The Yurts do have electricity by way of solar. There is a ceiling fan and one light, powered by this, which both worked very well. I think I read a caution on the site somewhere that says, if you use up all the electricity in a given day, like by nighttime, you're out of luck and the solar needs to recharge. But on that note, I can say this-- I used the light and fan liberally, and I did a test where I charged my Jackery, six drone batteries, many of my camera's batteries... all in all, a pretty intense charging regimen-- and I did not run out of juice at all. So chances are, you probably won't have an issue here, but just be aware, the Yurt is not connected to some electrical grid with unlimited power. The Yurt has a small deck on the outside, great for hanging out and sitting on chairs. There was a propane grill, which we did not use, so can't really comment on that. They even had a boot scraping station on the deck, I assume for times where it might rain there, which I assume becomes a muddy mess-- a nice and thoughtful touch. The Yurts are in the main campground, but in their own little section, so amazingly private, with Yurt 1 seeming to be the more private and set back further in the terrain. There are addition vault toilets near the Yurts for quick needs, but the main restrooms with flushing toilets and running water are still a short walk and nearby, and those even have showers. So if you like convenience, this campground has some nice amenities. I will 100% book one of these again in the future. You might also think that booking one is hard, and yes, they are likely in demand, but I was able to score this one, and have seen it available many times I have been on the site, so it's not like there's a year-long waiting list or something like that. If you plan early enough, I estimate you have a good chance you can find one, especially if you have flexibility on booking dates and can visit during the week, so don't give up if you strike out the first time!
