Just to clarify, site 18 is the site furthest to the right in the video above, back against the rocks. I know in some of these videos it might be hard to discern which site is which... I have camped at Goblin Valley once before, in site 3, which I'll review separately. Site 18 is among the best sites, mainly because it is up against rocks, with nobody behind you. Site 17, however, is pretty nearby, and as you'll learn, there are some concerns I'll point out around privacy, but it is the same concern with virtually any site in the campground. More on that in a bit.. First, like any campsite here, you get a shade shelter, picnic table and fire ring. All nice amenities, and they look and feel modern. Every time I have camped here, it gets quite windy, likely due to the open nature of the environment. So on this visit, I actually moved the picnic table from under the shade shelter, so I could set my tent up under the structure and use bungie chords to help hold it down. That is a pro tip--- it worked well, and the sides of the shelter did indeed help block some of the wind, but not all. Now be ready for the following... like many tents rated for spring and summer, I would bet the roof of your tent under the rainfly is just open mesh, so be well prepared here... you WILL get a lot of dirt and dust inside your tent. On both trips, I have come back to my tent, only to find the floor, sleeping bag and pillow, covered in dirt. This is not a complaint... just the reality. But you should know this so you can best prepare to deal with it. I have never experienced this anywhere else I've camped... and I camp A LOT. You might want to cover your sleeping bag and pillow before you head out to explore as a precaution. Now, the campground overall is excellent. They even have showers for paying guests and flushing toilets... a welcome amenity in an otherwise very isolated region. The scene in which the campground sits is amazing... it's a real treat to be able to camp in such unique geology. One of the most unique and fascinating campgrounds I've ever seen. But, it's worth mentioning some trade offs. Because there are no trees, and nothing in between campsites, privacy is understandably sub par. Few sites offer good privacy. If you require that, consider one of the yurts. A feature of the landscape is that sound bounces off those rocks very easily, so late night conversations by other guests are easily heard. Giggling. Talking, and even passing gas, like the neighbors I had who stayed up late farting and laughing. Yeah... that happened. It can be a bit trying at times if you get an inconsiderate neighbor, but little can be done to fix that. It should not deter you from camping here, but it is a reality you should be prepared for. I don't know what to recommend here. It's going to be a problem at almost any site. Maybe a site in the middle would carry less sound, but at the tradeoff of being even more exposed to the elements and sun. The only thing that could improve that is if the facility spaced sites out more generously, but considering it is already a small campground, that does not seem reasonable. So, chances are you won't have a bad time, but just want to level set on expectations. If you could remove the privacy concern here, site 18 would get a five star rating from me. That said, I do maintain 18 is perhaps in the top 5 best sites in this campground. I should also add, this is a walk-in type site, where you park in an assigned spot, next to other site parking spots, so this particular site does not seem designed for a large RV, so I consider it bad for RV's, good for tent campers, but there are plenty of sites that accommodate huge rigs. Pay attention to what you book and you'll be fine. I say these things, once again, not to deter, but to help you have the proper expectations if you decide to camp in this amazing place.
