I camped here at site 16 back in April of 2024, but when I drove through it to make the above video last August, not much has changed, and that's for the better! What can I say, I love Burro Creek Campground! I have often stopped here to get photos and video of the bridge for other videos I made, but finally decided to plant roots for a night. Being that is was April, when things warm up a tad during the day but stay nice and cool in the evenings, and when most of the snow birds have taken off for regions northward, I think the campground was less crowded than it might be in winter months. So for me, it was a very nice quiet time. Few campers. The main patrons were actually a few construction workers who were doing road work on nearby highway 93, but they arrived late and were pretty quiet. So things felt pretty private for me, although I can see if I did have neighbors, especially of the rowdy sort, privacy might be more tested in site 16, and the other nearby sites which sit in the middle of the campground. This is why I rated privacy as moderate for 16, even though it was super quiet and chill during my stay. I think the most coveted sites are 7, 8, and 9, as they overlook the creek and are supposed to be popular with bird watchers. Those were of course occupied during my stay. Site 16 has the same amenities as other sites, including a picnic table, fire ring, and small sun shade over the table, which is a welcome addition to camping in the Sonoran desert. The facility is very nice, and has a couple restrooms with flushing toilets, which were clean during my stay. If you read other reviews like on recreation.gov, a common theme is people remarking on the cleanliness of the restrooms here. This place even has a small botanical garden in the front entrance that shows you plants common to the Sonoran Desert. The BLM is to be commended for running such a nice facility like this. I'd say the campground is nicer than many National Forest Campgrounds, and even some National Parks. One of the highlights for me is the creek, which I spent some time flying my drone about. I always love getting photos and videos of Burro Creek bridge, and it is quite an impressive sight, and the view from the campground was made for photography. Even if you don't plan on camping here, and perhaps you are traveling on 93 between Phoenix and Vegas, the campground and bridge view is just a minute or two off the main route, so feel free to drop in to take a selfie or two. I almost always do! I had a very quiet and peaceful night, and see myself returning from time to time to camp since I live in Phoenix, which is close enough for a bit of weekend warrioring. I can definitely recommend site 16 for tent campers, but if you are in a big rig, you probably want to stick to the outside of the loop where the driveways seem longer and it is easier to back in and maneuver. I should also add for a tent, site 16 was very level and no issues to report there either. All in all, this is one of my favorite campgrounds in Arizona and a destination in and of itself!
