Alamo is a special campground. Do note, it's tents only here, no RV's allowed according to the NPS site. The campground is tiny, at 4 sites total. It's located at the base of beautiful mountains. The combo of being small, remote, and in a beautiful setting make this a five star campsite. There is a trailhead that goes into Alamo Canyon at the campground, giving you easy access to some historic ruins of an old ranching operation. You will of course find Organ Pipe Cacti here too, as the campground is inside some of the healthiest Sonoran desert you can find. As for the site 1, I would say each of the four sites is about equal in quality. So you can't go wrong with any of them. The set up is basic here. Just a vault toilet, and a couple small trash cans. The sites have a picnic table and fire ring, but that's it in terms of amenities. Bring what you need! My only nit pick is that privacy is lacking, as its the open desert, and the sites are pretty close together. All four sites were occupied during my stay, but it was quiet and pleasant. This is an amazing campsite!
